Shamus was born and raised in Warwick, Rhode Island. His family moved to North Kingstown, RI seven years ago, in 2001, and Shamus met Alexis at church. They have been close friends ever since.
Music is Shamus's true passion. He loves all types of music and has a "DJ Center Shack" in his backyard. Although Shamus has an extensive CD collection, vinyl records are his preference. He likes to see those records turn! Shamus also plays the Djembe drum and is a member of the Trudeau Center Drummers in Rhode Island.
A love of being on the water was instilled at a young age, when Shamus would enjoy boating with his father. Shamus is now a member of the North Kingstown "Salty Dogs", Rhode Island Special Olympics Sailing Team. Alexis is his sailing partner on the team.
Shamus is challenged cognitively and due to his cerebral palsy, has fine motor difficulties. Despite his challenges, Shamus has learned to hold the camera and take some wonderful pictures! Photography has become a new passion for him and he really enjoys traveling throughout Rhode Island to take pictures.
Alexis was born and raised in Rhode Island. She lives on the Narragansett Bay and some of her favorite things to do include kayaking and sailing. She sails with the Rhode Island Special Olympics team and also with her father.
Alexis loves the water and one of her favorite pictures taken for Rhode Island CanDo Cards, Inc. is the Conimicut Lighthouse image. Alexis took the photograph while sailing on Narragansett Bay with her parents. She also swims with the North Kingstown Special Olympics team.
Some years back, Alexis went to Washington D.C. and the local newspaper called her the "Littlest Lobbyist" for health reform. She likes to travel and spend time with friends.
